JOB TITLE: Teacher - Special Education (Bilingual)


FLSA STATUS: Exempt/Salaried


JOB LOCATION: Charter School (Main Campus and/or Kinder Academy)


PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for identifying need and/or providing services for students with an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).


PRIMARY DUTIES:


Legend: E = Essential / NE = Non Essential / N/A = Not Applicable


1. Identify services needed to determine student eligibility (administer academic testing, etc.). E

2. Create and implement the IEP based on student needs. E

3. Provide services to students per the IEP. E

4. Assess progress of students towards IEP goals. E

5. Facilitate meetings with applicable stakeholders throughout the entire IEP process. E

6. Prepare, complete, distribute, and/or submit required items by due dates (IEP, lesson plans, student records and notes, reports, statistical data, etc.). E

7. Comply with legal, organizational, and contractual requirements, laws and policies. E

8. Attend meetings and professional development activities, as requested. E

9. Establish and maintain good communication, collaboration, and cooperation with all stakeholders (ex: parents, teachers, co-workers, etc.). E

10. Follow all duties of a mandated reporter. E

11. Perform other related duties, as assigned. E

12. Be a team player. E

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, reach, stoop, bend, and walk. Infrequent lifting may be encountered.

Must be able to successfully pass TB, drug testing, and physical.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is generally performed in classroom and school environments. Infrequent local/state-wide travel. Flexible hours required; as dictated by program needs.


REPORTS TO: Administrator (as designated)


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

1. Bachelor's degree in related field (in Special Education strongly preferred) from an accredited University or College.

2. Valid WI DPI License in applicable area or ability to obtain/apply for emergency license within two (2) weeks from date of hire.

3. One (1) year of experience working with students strongly preferred.

4. Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

5. Able to demonstrate positive cultural intelligence with diverse groups and individuals.

6. Excellent critical thinking, organizational skills, and able to manage multiple priorities.

7. Excellent communication, verbal and written, interpersonal skills, and ability to work with others.

8. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite.

9. Transportation, valid Wisconsin Driver's license, state minimum auto insurance, and must meet La Causa, Inc. driving standards.

10. Must be able to successfully pass criminal history background checks.

11. Must be able to work flexible hours based on program needs.
