What you will accomplish as a Current Product Engineering Supervisor at TAPCO:

The Product Engineering Supervisor leads the engineering team responsible for supporting current TAPCO-made products. The Current Product Engineering Supervisor will lead a small group of skilled Engineers, and Technologists to manage TAPCO products. The individual will be an authority and strong advocate for safety, cost reduction, quality, and field service effectiveness to improve TAPCO's financials and customer satisfaction. This position works on teams; leading or as a member of cross-functional improvement efforts. Work includes planning, supervising, and coordinating all phases of Current Product engineering. The supervisor works as a change agent initiating and managing projects to improve reliability, safety, and cost. Along with Process Engineering leader, develops production and engineering policies, practices, and procedures to improve quality in a low volume, high mix of signage and warning systems assembly operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conduct economic analysis on changes proposed for Current Product - cost, safety, and reliability.
    • Define, propose and implement product BOM changes, including alternate supplier/components.
    • Evaluate, approve and initiate engineering drawings and/or change requests
    • Provide guidance and mentoring, plan/coordinate staffing needs and resources as well as ongoing performance management.
    • Maximize product quality and minimize product liability exposure by working with quality control, field service cases and providing insight and solutions to improve reliability and cost associated with CoNQ.
    • Participate in failure analysis teams and New Product Development process of C4.
    • Provides key inputs and drive DFX (Design for Manufacturability, Design for Cost) during design/product development process
    • Establish objectives, schedules and priorities in Current Product Engineering activities (Cost, Efficiency and Project timelines) and review staff based on their accomplishments towards these directions.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and/or commensurate experience
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Able to develop the professional abilities of engineers and technicians.
  • Demonstrable project management experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills working with coworkers and management
  • Experience managing a group of Engineers, designers and/or technicians.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
