Job Description
Foley & Lardner is seeking an associate with 2 - 5 years of relevant experience to join our Environmental Practice Group. The preferred location for this position is Milwaukee, but we are open to considering candidates in Chicago. A qualified candidate will have experience or demonstrated interest in regulatory compliance matters under federal environmental laws and their state equivalents, as well as experience counseling clients regarding government enforcement proceedings and advising clients on various environmental aspects of corporate transactions. Law firm or government experience at a relevant agency (e.g., EPA/DOJ or WDNR/ILEPA or AG) is strongly preferred.

The candidate must be comfortable with direct interaction with both senior partners and clients and have the ability to work for multiple partners on a variety of matters simultaneously in a team-based environment. A positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and an exceptional work ethic, coupled with a desire to be part of a fast-paced, collaborative environment are essential, as are excellent research and writing skills. We are open to considering candidates from adjacent practice areas (e.g., real estate, energy, regulation-heavy regulatory practices) at a higher seniority level who are willing to step back to be trained in specialty environmental practice.

To be considered, a candidate must hold a JD from an ABA-approved law school and must be in good standing and an active member Bar of the jurisdiction(s) in which the candidate is admitted to practice. Timely admission to the Bar coinciding with the office of hire will be a condition of employment. Interested applicants should submit resume, law school transcript, a writing sample and a cover letter indicating office preference.
